Electronic Speed Control FAQs
Q.
How do I set-up the HFX?
A. First, turn on your transmitter
and make sure the throttle trim is set to neutral and your throttle EPA
(if you have it is at 100%. Next, while pushing the set up button, turn
on the switch. Wait for the red light to blink, and then pull the trigger
to full throttle. Wait for the light to blink again and push out on the
throttle for full brakes. Wait for the light to blink again, and then
let off to neutral. You're done! You should have full control at this
point. However, if the light is blinking, then a mistake was made and
you will need to repeat the process.
Q.
What port in the receiver do I plug my HFX into?
A. The HFX always plugs into the throttle
channel, typically CH #2 for a two-channel radio and CH#3 for a 4 or more
channel radio.
Q.
What is B.E.C.?
A. B.E.C. stands for Battery Eliminator
Circuitry. This means that the speed control supplies power to the radio
from the main power battery, so there is no need for a separate battery
pack for the receiver.
Q.
Is the HFX reversible?
A. No, the HFX is a forward only "Race
Type" speed control designed for high performance. If you want reverse
then you will want to get the HFX-R.
Q.
What is the motor limit on the HFX?
A. We recommend no lower than 10 turns
but if properly geared the HFX has no motor limit. Be aware that the lower
the turns, the hotter the speed control will get and it may go into thermal
shut off. If this happens you will need to gear down or go with a milder
motor. Always make sure there is sufficient airflow over the heat sinks
to help keep it cool.
Q.
What is current limiting and why do I need it?
A. Current limiting limits the amperage
that the motor can pull, the lower the setting the less acceleration you
have but it will also increase your runtime. In situations where traction
is limited the current limiter can actually act as "Traction Control"
thus making the car easier to drive. |
